Looks like we’re in for a few good days throughout most of the UK with a deep low pressure like this bringing in the wind and some decent swell. Enjoy!!!
Keep safe today people.

UPDATE – Sat just off Aberdeen harbour waiting for a pilot to bring us in……65.3kts average and gusting 83.6kts!! That’s well over hurricane force (Beaufort 12)……it came up to that from a steady 45-50kts in a matter of seconds!
Came across this vid of the Cali boys mixing wave riding with a bit of freestyle…….check it out!
Amateur Wakeboarding Contest, FREE to enter at Wake Up Brighton, Saturday 14th May at 4pm supported by Red Bull and ION
This Saturday sees the first Wake Up Brighton Amateur wakeboarding contest kicking off at Lagoon Watersports, Hove Lagoon. Heats start from 4pm to 5.30pm, each rider gets a set number of passes with an aim of one air / surface trick and one rail ride per pass. I’m going to be there with Neal Hilder looking at the best air and best rail tricks – The top 5 riders going through to the final.
Emphasis is on style!
A few of the pro’s will be on the water from 5.30 to 6.30pm but this will swiftly be followed by the top 5 riders showing off their best air and rail trick which will decide the overall winner of the contest.
The Amateur Wakeboarding contest is free to enter by calling Wake Up Brighton on 01273 42 48 42 or by emailing info@lagoonwatersports.co.uk, places are limited so make sure you confirm yours!
The Amateur Wakeboarding contest is supported by ION and Red Bull with their sound system and wing girls.
If your not keen on competing then just come pop by and chill in the Ion chill out area. There’s a BBQ as well see you there!

Whenever new plans are submitted for a proposed wind farm development there is always the band of merry men(and women) that instantly start to petition the proposal sighting reasons like “they spoil the landscape”, “they will hinder shipping”, “the local wildlife will decline”, etc.
What these people (often seen turning up to meetings in 6.3ltr Mercs and BMWs) seem to ignore is that we all need to ‘harvest’ the power we use on a daily basis from somewhere……so would it not be better to get it from a clean source near to where it is used rather than through old fashioned techniques of burning fossil fuels (that need to be imported from thousands of miles away by sea or by piping it across land and seabed) or Nuclear power (we all made enough noise when Japan hit the news lately about the MANY negative aspects of nuclear)?
What’s wrong with wind turbines? They are nearly silent and visually graceful in operation. By utilising this technology now we are helping future generations by further developing it (improving efficiency, extending maintenance schedules and laying down the infrastructure so it can be expanded as required). It will be a tremendous day when we can say that more power comes from green eco-harvested power sources than fossil/nuclear fuels!
