I live in the South East of England in Whitstable where I come from a family of water sport enthusiasts. At an early age I was introduced to wakeboarding, windsurfing and eventually kitesurfing, however initially I started flying power kites at my local park and beach. This ultimately led to me making my own landboard out of an old skateboard and some trolley wheels, as well as my dad kindly welding me a four-wheeled kite buggy (which was lethal!) to use.

My first inflatable kite was a Wipika classic, which at the tender age of 13 I flew in fields, parks, beaches…basically anywhere I could until Christmas came around and I was lucky enough to get a brand new big directional kiteboard. At 14 I spent sometime out in Australia in Port Headland, with my family. I learnt in offshore winds, on two lines, no depower or quick release, to kitesurf back then. Once returning to the UK with my new skills, I managed to avoid school as often as possible to spend time down the beach, and since the age of 15 I have worked with the guys at “Whitstable Windsurfing” selling kitesurfing equipment and teaching.

Due to my interest in new kit I work with Kitesurf UK magazine as a test editor and most recently iksurf online magazine. In between work, I have travelled as often and as regularly as possible to different kiting locations, learning and developing my knowledge with some of the nicest guys. I have also competed in the British Kitesurfing Championships in junior, amateur and eventually the pro fleet. Whilst I am not one of the most successful competition riders, due to my relevant job and long enthusiasm in the sport, I have spent a lot of time working and playing with varying kite equipment giving me a good idea of what works and what doesn’t when it comes to kite kit.

I hope you find my posts helpful and feel free to email for any questions you think I may be able to answer.
